The race
Castellon city will host the I Castellón City Marathon to be held on Sunday, 12 December 2010. This marathon is the first project under the Strategic Plan of the city CASTELLÓN ADVANCE (2009-2015) that becomes a reality. With this race, Castellón not only enter the list of cities marathon competitions, but also seeks to achieve social and economic revitalization of society Castellon making the marathon a real tourist attraction and visitors to our capital.
Castellón has a great tradition of street racing dispute over the last few years, but now wanted to be among the largest, promoting the organization of the showpiece event of the Marathon
The organization of the Race for the City of Castellón to account for co-organizing this with absolute Club d'Atletisme Running Castelló, and the cooperation of the City Club; Unió Atlética Castello, c.d. Evassion Running Team, and C.A.42yPico.
The circuit presented is a very fast and flat course, with the goal of making it attractive to participants. The Finish will be on the Paseo Ribalta and run by the most emblematic places of Castellón and Grao, The Lamp, UJI Bridge, Statue of Tombatossals Lledó Basilica, Auditorium, Plaza María Agustina, Plaza de la Mar, Avenida Casalduch, Smith Street, where the runners are looking for the warmth of the citizens so necessary in this type of test.
During the race points will be established animation, both in output and in prominent places of the trail, so that everyone can accompany the athletes and enjoy this sporting event in a festive atmosphere.
The goal is that participating in this first edition is high, and it has established awards for the winners in absolute category, but also have provided prizes for the top athletes in the Valencia Community and local athletes. It also has enhanced women's participation, matching the amount of prizes in all categories.
In total over 33,000 euros will be allocated among the the top finishers in all categories.
In the marathon, involving both national and international athletes such as Olympic Athlete Spanish Chema Martinez, who has already confirmed his presence in this first edition and in the career development both nationally and internationally.
The organization has planned the implementation of measures of separate collection of waste, to strengthen maintenance and cleaning actions, respect for the environment and environmental volunteering in order to make this test in a green Marathon.
